Here are my DAT scores:

PA - 25
QR - 16
RC - 18
Bio - 18
GC - 23
OC - 20
TS - 20
AA - 19

How competitive do these look?? Does anyone think I need to retake it? Any input would be appreciated.

(Applying to MUSC for 2013).

Your app will be competitive with these scores depending on your GPA, just apply to a broad range of schools whose class profile matches up with your stats. Your 16QR shouldn't prevent you from receiving interviews. Good job

Damn. What did you use for PAT prep? Please show us your ways, haha. Break down??

Don't retake. You have a 25/20/19 *PAT/TS/AA*
That is competitive! Just have a a gpa around 3.5, EC, good LOR, etc. and you are set. Congratz! Enjoy the rest of your summer. Hope I get scores like yours!

I used Crack the DAT PAT. I got the 10 test version which costs something around $150. It's a good investment though. (I started with Kaplan PAT and moved on to Crack the DAT when I got better at it).

For Science I used Destroyer which I definitely recommend. I felt really confident going in. I don't know what happened with my Biology score...

Its hard to say without knowing your other stats. If you have >3.5 and decent ECs then you will probably be fine. But if you have a 3.1 or something you will probably need to retake in order to be competitive.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Any other opinions??

My GPA is only a 3.2, but I've been working as a Chemistry TA for the past 2 yrs. Plus I've logged over 100 hrs of shadowing.

Hey first of all amazing PAT.

A couple points to address.

QR: Not really important don't worry about it
PAT: Some schools love high PATs some couldnt care less. my school doesn't really care about it they just want it to be above a 17.
GPA: GPA is relative. A 3.2 may be amazing at one school, but terrible at another. It is a very hard number to quantify. The DAT a 19 is a 19 is a 19. What is the average GPA of your state school? What is your science GPA? These are things I would check out.

As for a retake...personally I would look at your schools GPA average. My rule for DAT to GPA is this. Each point on your AA is worth .2 points on your science GPA. You're over-all is not that important. So do the math and see what you get.

Good luck on this cycle I hope you all interview well!

What is your science gpa?

From what I have seen (I could be wrong or off by a few) I think the average 'competitive' score is 19-20 AA, 18-19 TS with a 3.5-3.6 overall gpa with a science gpa around 3.4-3.5.

But your PAT is really high and TS is a bit higher so it's really close. Apply to a lot of schools and you should get interviews. Congrats once again.
P.S. I would not retake because it would put you REALLY late this cycle plus the scores are good.

I'm really trying to get into MUSC. Apparently their avg GPA last year was 3.7 and their avg DAT score was 20 AA, 21 PAT. That's according to this site:

dental-schools.findthebest.com/l/52/MUSC-James-B-Edwards-College-of-Dental-Medicine

The good news is they they really favor in-state applicants (I'm from SC) and I've been told they like higher PAT scores.
By the way my Science GPA is 3.45, a little higher than my overall.
