Hi guys, I got an 18AA first time using dat booster & datdestroyer, and I plan on retaking it using a diff resource. I heard chads videos are good but does anyone know if I were to use booster & chads videos that would be enough? Also if I do get chads videos, should I do the 60$ monthly or just watch his free videos on YouTube?

1. What were your lowest sections? It may be worth while to focus on certain sections (such as the sciences and PAT), than others (QR).
2. Lastly, how did you study? An 18AA isn't a bad score and may indicate that you need to tweak how you study rather than the resources you utilize (this will save you money in the long run. You won't have to spend more money on different resources). However, it could very well be the resources you used.

Hi Chickennuggs, Interesting name by the way. I agree that your scores aren't that bad but I know you want to do much better. Are you a traditional student? What is your science gpa? Over the last several years it has been much more challenging for students learning online, and many schools were teaching without textbook, GC and Orgo so we have seen weakness in our own students. Many students are deficient in the fundamentals and thus makes it hard when it comes time to prepare for the exam. I can't speak for other companies but I do feel like if you are able to go through the Destroyer again and really feel comfortable with the work, not just quickly going through the question and answer, but you understand all the information in the detailed solutions, there are mini lectures in side each solution of the Biology. The Destroyer was never meant to be used for timing but learning. Hope this makes sense and if I can answer any other questions feel free to reach out. Nancy

Because you used both the Destroyers and DAT Booster (although I can't speak for the latter) and scored as you did, I think there may be something going on with your study style that doesn't match your best way of learning. For either of the resources, but especially the Destroyer, were you memorizing the questions and answers, or really learning the key points and concepts behind what they were trying to get at? And like has already been asked, what is your background like in these topics outside of just doing questions?

Before going and using new resources, I think it would be worth evaluating what happened and determining what "went wrong." It's hard to tell from sure based off of what you've told us here, but chances are that some internal reflection on everything may be able to help you figure out what happened. The DAT is far from an easy or simple exam, so what happened may be complicated and more unique to you! But it also may just be that you were answering questions over and over but not understanding them at a deeper level.

I do think that will be more than enough as far as resources go. The free videos on YouTube will be enough. I also recommend in addition to using different resources, having an overall different strategy is important. When it comes to retakes (mine included) you know what your strong and weak points are. So, I would recommend spending the majority of your time strengthening your weaker sections by doing practice problems, then spending less time on your stronger sections but just enough time to maintain your score. The best thing you can do when prepping for your retake is doing as many practice problems as possible.
