First off I want to give a huge shout-out to the tim hortons staff and service. Thank you for allowing me into your family for the last two months and giving me free coffee. We will forever be boys.
Yea so this isnt going to be one of this crazy break downs, I retook the DAT today and i'm pretty happy with my scores.
The first time I scored a
AA: 19
TS:22
Bio:24
Orgo:22
GC:19
PAT:18
RC:18
QR:14 :/
I retook to do better in QR and General chemistry mostly, obviously worked on the other sections as well in the process.
New Scores
AA: 21
TS:22
Bio :20
Orgo:24
Gen chem:23
PAT: 19
RC: 18
QR:19
I was expecting much higher in bio because I scored a 24 the first time, but my test was particularly harder than I thought it would be, also it was harder than my bio test last year which shows how diverse the questions can be and it really is lluck of the draw.
I thought Gen Chem was harder than I expected it to be, harder than last year forsure, I studied hard for it thought so Im happy with it
Orgo I thought wasnt that easy either, I'm really good at orgo, I wonder what I got wrong TBH, Its okay I went up two points so i'm glad. Just know the little facts, they are important.. and know NMR!
PAT wasn't bad, the Key hole wasn't bad either I expected worse, pretty on par with bootcamp probably easier though. I now understand exactly what everyone means when they say that haha.
Reading was like pretty on par with bootcamp and achiever.. I thought the questions were more application based and wasn't directly given to you in the passage you had to understand certain parts to get certain questions right. I thought I did better.. I am content that I didn't go down so I'm okay with it I guess, didnt put much time into it.
QR: I did math destroyer 1.8 times. yes exactly 1.8 times I calculated.. 😉 I got a 19. I was happy, It wasn't bad, that was technically what I was aiming for, I'm hoping schools will be happy to see that.
I got to the prometric an hour early, got my grande vanilla late (essential), listened to binaural tones for 40 minutes, said a long prayer (I'm catholic) and relaxed. I knew there wasn't much I could do, and what ever happened would happen. Trust yourself, and PLEASE don't freak out toward the end. I thought I bombed the science section literally. I kept composure and ended strong. Last year I freaked out and thought I bombed everything and messed up in math because of that.
What I wish I did different: well, I studied like a *****, I literally had so many things to use I didn't know what to do some days and I would jumping from resource to resource thinking i'm lacking in one subject.. Just stick to these, Bootcamp, Destroyer, and Feralis. Nothing else is needed if you use more it will only mess you up. I say that because there are so many resources out there that have different answers for certain questions and it messes with your head, and makes you jump all over the place. I wish I did destroyer bio more, and also read feralis notes more. Last year I did that like crazy and scored a 24 in bio, this year I didn't so it shows alot.
I have a low GPA, a good upward trend , baller personal statement, president of two orgs, vice president of another, currently working as a dental assistant, but also have three other places I shadowed and volunteered at for over 350 hours. I am a re-applicant, and most schools I spoke with said they will keep my best scores from last year and this year and fuse it into one exam, so it would be looked at as a 24 bio 24 orgo and a 23 gen chem 24TS prob a 23 AA. I am hoping for a miracle but I am content with my score and I hope this helped you. Although this is probably the worst breakdown you have ever read It has some solid advice in here.
