I spent 50 min writing this thread*(it was realllllly longgg) but accidently pressed back.....
Everythings deleted. Ill write about it tonite or tomorrow.
But first I need input guys. Would my low RC affect my score???? What do you guys think?? 23 is the score I really wanted. I think I deserve the score because I prepared extremely hard for this. But unfortunately, I did poorly on RC, which brought my avg down.
Overall Im extremely happy, but still disappointed about RC.
Like I said, Ill write the details sometime later..(like How i thought about the real DAT and How I studied for this...) This forum has been a major help for me. Thank you everyone here!

tight scores! make sure you apply to Columbia ----> sucker for high DAT scores.😛

why would you retake the dat in the first place.
i think your scores were awsome the first time... and second time you just nailed it (again)

So many folks have taken their DAT recently, and are well. Congratulations ! You guys are setting the standard for the upcoming application cycle.

Very nice DAT score! Don't worry about the RC, schools look at the complete package. Now go get to work on that personal statement!

Thanks for input guys. The reason I retook the test is bc I wanted increase my chance. I wanted to make something standout from my app. I believed that I could do better bc I dont think I studied hard for the first time. I already applied last june but didnt hear back from a lot of schools I applied to. I guess they are just holding my app so hopefully my new score will help. I studied about 3 months for this.

Bio: I dedicated more than half of my study in bio.
I studied cliff's AP, schuam, MCAT bio Kaplan, destroyer. Understand the details and processes rather than memorizing the facts. a few random questions here.

Gchem: I was really confident about gchem bc I was scoring 25s on topscore. Used blue book, mcat princeton, and destroyer. Focus on concepts rather than heavy calculations. If you understand the blue book inside out, you will have no problem.

Ochem: destroyer and bluebook here are more than enough. you don have to know random rxns. Focus on concepts here (again).

Qr: The hardest Qr IVE seen. Like a lot of others said, they are making this section really crazy. Im pretty good at math but I saw questions Ive never seen before. I used destroyer, topscore and achiever.

RC: My nerves started breaking down bc i got frustrated with 2nd passage which I had no idea what I was reading about. 3rd one was about spinal cord and I kinda knew about this topic. Im lucky to get a 17 here I think. In practice tests, I got 19,20 20. topscore and achiever. But questions are in different format, I personally think the real RC is a lot harder. No word for word questions.

PAT: I barely studied for this bc I did well on my first time. I tried to do achiever but it was wayy too hard for me. I gave up. I did top score the nite before and got 25. (wayyy easier than the real test.)

My gpa is pretty low so hopefully schools will started considering my efforts in DAT. Im also scheduled to take a 2nd bacc classes at a state school.(preparing for possible rejections.)

If you have any questions about any study tools I used. Im glad to help you out. Bc I got tremendous help from just by reading this forum, I feel like I have to give back.

Wow! Good job. Your first scores were good, but you definitely made some improvements with these recent scores. Good luck.

Cypressballa,

Congrats again on the great scores! A few questions for you.

1) I noticed that you used MCAT material to study for the DAT. I took the MCAT and was accepted to med school(s)... I decided shortly thereafter that I didn't want to become an MD. Do you feel like the Kaplan MCAT material was sufficient prep (my undergrad degrees are in biochem and microbiology)?

2) If you had to choose between destroyer, top score, and achiever, which one would it be?

Thanks for the advice...

1) Kapan MCAT is sufficent for human biology which makes up about 60 percent of DAT bio materials. It doesnt cover plants, ecology, taxonomy. If you use kaplan mcat and schaum together, It would be more than enough.

2) Definitely destroyer. I think top score is nothing more than a confident booster. Achiever is wayy too harder than any of the tests Ive taken. But it's a good study tool.

You're definitely good to go! You're goingt o dental school! Congrats!

We scored very similar scores...I had a 17 as well, except in math. No lie, be confident, you will get in -- no doubt in my mind. I've been invited to an interview at almost every school I applied to (except a few I added late in october), and excepted at the 3 I decided to interview at.

Cheers!
