Hi everyone! This is my second time taking DAT. Here are my stats:
First time: (2008)
PAT 19
QR 17
RC 17
Bio 20
GChem 21
Ochem 20
TS 20
AA 19

Second time (2010)
PAT 21
QR 18
RC 19
Bio 20
GChem 18
Ochem 22
TS 20
AA 19

GPA 3.55 SciGPA 3.45
So first time took DAT, my RC score is very low at 17 which I think it was the main reason I didn't get accepted. I applied twice already but didn't get accepted so this is my third time trying. I am please that my RC got improved but so bummed about QR and Gchem. I wonder if these two score are so important that I need to retake DAT for the third time.
Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks

Seeing as how your GPA is pretty average in terms of what most schools are looking for, I don't think you should have a problem at least getting a couple of interviews with your stats. Most schools don't care too much for QR anyway (or at least, it's the least looked at section..) the gen chem score is a bit low but by no means should that hinder your chances. Especially when they see that you did manage a 21 in gen chem during your first attempt.

That's also the other issue with retaking the DATs. You run the risk of getting a lower score in other sections. With what you have, I think you should be fine.

Either way, good luck!

btw. congrats on those scores.

didn't get accepted.
didn't get accepted with interview or without interview?

if with interview I suggest you not to retake. (20 on DAT is common now)

if without interview I suggest retake. It seem like you only improved your PAT and you overall AA is the same.

you got the right GPA and DAT. I don't see any gap in those 2 areas. Are you applying to enough schools? Maybe something is happening during the interview process that turning them off?

Aim for 20+ schools this cycle, I really think this will be your year

I did got an interview first year at UCSF, Michigan and Western. Got on wait list for all. Then second year, I got interview with UCSF, Michigan and UNLV and got rejected all ;(. I think my interview went OK, not something really stand out so my overall stats weren't competitive enough because I think the school put everything in points and pick the best one down. Thank you for all your comments though.

This is really discouraging. In my opinion your 2008 scores are above average and good enough to get accepted? You're at a 20 or above in the bio/chem which is considered most important. Is your personal statement lacking?

Could you list the schools you applied to? The 3 schools you listed are known to be schools that have a relatively low acceptance/interview ratio. I think if you reapply early to the right schools, your stats should carry you through.

Last year, without retaking DAT I applied to Michigan, UCSF, USC, Western, Meharry, Maryland, Louisville, UNLV, Boston, Tuft, Temple, and NYU. I took the prerequisite in JC then transfered to UCLA so I guess Boston and Tuft rejected me right away. So with my stats, which schools should I apply to? Thank you for all your inputs.
