Hi everyone! This is actually my first post. I've been reading the posts on this forum for quite a while now, and I've learned a lot ... it's been a really great resource. I took my DAT today (my second attempt), so I thought I would post my scores and some information that might help.

1st attempt --- 2nd attempt (today)
PAT 15 ---18
QR 15 --- 16🙁
RC 21 --- 21
BIO 19 ---21
CHEM 19 --- 20
OCHEM 18 --- 23:luck:
TS 18 --- 22
AA 18 --- 20

The first time I wrote the DAT (last October), I used the Kaplan blue book and subject tests for the sciences, QR and PAT. I also bought DAT professor, and borrowed the Barron's book from a friend. I really wasn't happy with my scores (particularly PAT).

This time around I used Shaums for Bio, Crack DAT PAT and DAT Destroyer. I bought the Topscore tests as well. I used the Kaplan blue book for chem/ochem, and made reference to my university ochem text to fill in any gaps. I would say Destroyer is DEFINITELY worth the money, as is Crack DAT. Also, Topscore really helped me improve my timing. Shaums is also good ... but at times, too detailed. Anywho, if anyone has questions feel free to post them here and I will try and answer them ...or you can PM me 😎

great improvment, congrat. and good luck for rest of your interviews 👍

Thanks! For my first DAT, I did all of the Kaplan practice tests and RC workshops. This time, I focused more on the Sciences/PAT ... I just did the RC sections on Topscore.

Hahaha, beautiful!
Are we getting a "breakdown" of your test here?

Hmmm ... I echo the sentiments of previous posters.

Bio was pretty random. RC was hard ... and I started to panic initially (all the typing going on around me at the time probably didn't help either). But I tried to relax and re-focus. As far as resources, I strongly recommend Destroyer.

Congrads on your score. You showed significant improvement. I hope you`ll get in to the school of your choice.

Congrats on your new improved scores!

When you took the finals from Kaplan, did your scores reflect the real DAT score? How about the TOP score tests?

My test is on Monday and I am freaking out. When you studied Destroyer, what percentage of the questions did you know and get right? My percentage is not that great... I feel like I've been studying the wrong material.

Thanks.:scared:

My Topscore results are similar to my actual (i.e. retake) DAT scores. As far as Destroyer goes, I got ~15% of the Bio questions wrong the first time I went through it (n.b. I majored in Bio, and have completed a lot of upper-level bio courses). G-Chem/O-Chem ~ 30% incorrect. But with practice, I improved.

hi,

i was wondering if you had applied after your first set of DAT scores. I have similar scores and am wondering if I should retake and apply next cycle. (If you did apply, which school?). Thanks in advance.

I submitted my AADSAS application for the 2008 cycle very late (September) before taking my first DAT. I didn't get any interviews, on account of my late application + one very late LOR + poor DAT scores. If I had taken the DAT earlier and seen my scores, I probably wouldn't have applied and saved my money. But I really had no choice. I applied to some private schools on the east-coast that accepted international students(because I'm Canadian).
