I re-took the DAT about two years or so after my first attempt. During those two years I took upper level sciences and continued teaching as a lab instructor for Histology, Anatomy & Physiology I & II, and Microbiology. I tell you this, because it probably contributed to my success on the DAT the second time around.
I also took courses beyond the minimum Pre-Dent requirements, such as Histology, Immunology, Biochem (full year), Embryology & Development, Molecular Cell Biology, Molecular Biology I & II, Quantitative Biological Methods, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, Neurobiology and Calculus. I have two B.S. degrees - one in Gen Bio and the other in Molec & Micro Bio. My avg GPA for all these sciences was 3.6. I am now a dentist in the Navy practicing for the past two years.
I studied full-time (8+ hour days) for two weeks straight. I did nothing but take subject tests and one full-length exam. My score jumped 2-3 points on all sections except QR, where I purposefully practiced very little. One would think with all that undergrad course work that I would ace the DAT, but DAT is basic-sciences-focused as you know.
Since you've already been there, done that, and taken your basic sciences, I recommend studying no more than 3 weeks. Do it disciplined... do it full-time... and do NO traditional studying (reading, reading and more reading). Just take tests and quizzes over and over again, understanding both the correct and incorrect answers. Don't waste time taking tests and quizzes that provide no explanations. Only use products that explain every question and that is what you study from.
You can do it! Three weeks is plenty. Go for it incessantly! Hope this helps.
