I just took the DAT and my scores are horrible. Some 15s and 16s are in there to give you an idea. I want to apply this cycle and retake the DAT. Considering my GPA(3.2) I need a killer DAT score. Do you think it will be too late to apply by the time I take the DAT again? I heard schools don't look at the app until your DAT comes in.
I guess my question is, even if my dat scores are great will September-ish be too late for me to be competitive because of my gpa?

Also, any school suggestions are much appreciated. State School: UAB

September may be pushing it since your scores likely won't be transmitted to AADSAS until October-ish. So, is it ideal? Definitely not. But will it kill your chances? Well that depends on how well you do on your retake. If you destroy it next time I would say you have a good shot. If you get another mediocre score I don't think you will have much of a chance at all.

Thats what I was thinking. Should I go ahead and apply now and specifiy that Im retaking? Im afraid they will look at my current stats and current DAT score and throw out my application! Is it brought to their attention when someone gets a new DAT score or how does that work?

If you're planning on applying this year, apply as soon as you can. You can specify that you're retaking the exam by listing a future exam date in the DAT section. This way your application won't be sent out until they have those new DAT scores. You can also try asking the AADSAS people for assistance, they're pretty helpful.

Thanks Ari! Btw, bootcamp is priceless when it comes to studying for the dat. I wish I bought it sooner
