Can you rush your DAT scores to the schools? I'm applying for dental school and I finished my app and I have my LORs and matching forms all sent. But I've never taken the DATs and plan on taking them August 2009. My GPA is a 3.3 does it really hurt me that I'm taking my DATs so late?

i don't think there's a way to rush mail the DAT scores to the schools. there's no option for that on the score request form:

Why are you taking the DAT so late if you know of your situation?

It is probably best for you to study hard for the next month and take it in July. You want to be near to the top of the application stack when admission committees start going through applications.

I just want to be a 100% ready for the DATs so it would be much more advantageous to take it in the end of july compared to the august?

When in August? The later you submit, the higher score you'll need..

Ya, and generally studying less and getting a relatively lower score is easier that postponing and needing a higher score...if that makes sense.

There's no way you can rush your score delivery. It takes ADA a certain amount of time to process your scores, before reporting them to your designated schools.
At this point, I don't think you should really worry yourself with whether or not August is too late to take the exam. If you need that much time to study and feel confident before taking the exam, then you need that much time. Simple as that!!
Taking the exam in August and getting a decent score is much better than taking it earlier and ending up with a crappy score.
Don't worry, I know people who have gotten into great schools, despite the fact that they've taken their DAT late in August. But, as one of the other posters mentioned, be sure to study hard for the exam so that you'll get a competitive score, if you're planing on taking it in August. As you know, most dental schools are on rolling admissions, so the later you complete your application the later they will start reviewing your file, which means you'll be competing for fewer spots, which means the competition will become more intense, which means in order to get in your stats must be very competitive.

Good Luck👍

Time spent studying doesn't directly correlate with your grade if you have been studying for several months for the DAT. Study efficient. Just because you study less, doesn't mean you will get a "relatively" lower score.

Yes, do not rush your DAT schedule. That would be a foolish idea to apply early when you are not sure about your performance on the most important test of your life. It is true that the later you apply, the more difficult it will be, however it is much more important to rock the DAT than to get your apps in one month earlier. I am in the same boat as you. My gpa is 3.35 due to two horrible semesters, and I too am taking the DAT in August.

Don't listen to these other people who tell you to rush it!

No one said to rush the DAT score

There is no way to rush your score, but you can send an "unofficial" fax to your schools telling them your scores.

Regarding taking the DAT in mid-late August, I am a re-applicant from the 2007 cycle, my DAT in july 2006 was:
AA-19
TS-19
PA-18

Does that give me any edge over those who are first taking the DAT for the first time in mid-late Aug, or should I aim to take it sooner? I'm defending my masters thesis in like 2 weeks, Time is becoming limited.

any thoughts are appreciated
