I'm trying to figure out when to take the DAT. I've been studying on and off for about a month, but I'm surely not prepared yet. I was wondering when it is the latest I can take it and still not be that late in my application. I was thinking mid-August. Would that be early enough?

Yes that would be fine assuming all other parts of your application were complete (along with the supplemental stuff).

I've always heard that an August DAT parks your app into the "late" category. This is because official results take 3 weeks to be mailed to the school. Yes you can fax/mail/scan and e-mail your unofficial results to the schools. Some schools will consider the unofficial scores and some will wait for the official scores.

However, I'd say at this point two weeks either way isn't going do too much in the grand scheme of lateness. You might as well use the time to study and do well on the DAT.
