I'm applying for the 2008 cycle and took the DAT's last week...here are my scores...

Bio 19
Gchem 20
Ochem 20
RC 20
QR 20
TS 20
AA 20
PAT 21

My GPAs are 3.6/3.4 and I am really hoping to get into Michigan. Do you guys think I should retake since I have time or do you think I'll be ok with those scores? I'll also be applying to UDM, case, and a few others. Let me know if you think I'm ok with those scores or if I should try to improve. I think I could do better on the sciences (especially bio) with more studying but don't want to have to go through that again. Any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Those are really good stats. Check out www.predents.com. I would say the averages on this site are a little above what Michigans stats actually are bc they represent a very small part of the applicant pool but it gives you an idea. According to the site, the averages are as follows.
For people interviewed GPA/Sci= 3.6/3.57 DAT = 21.5/21.5/20.5. Accepted stats are a little higher but like I said, this site is skewed. Good job on the DAT btw.

nice job.... those are some good scores 👍

those scores are great...congrats. they are for sure good enough for michigan, and many other top dental schools, it's just how you present your application now. with ec's, a strong personal statement, and some dental experience, I'm sure you'll get an interview...then it's up to you. but those stats are strong enough, I wouldn't worry about taking it again.

Don't retake it, you should be fine. The avg scores of last years accepted UMich students were around 19.5AA, so u should be good if the rest of your application is sufficient. Do research if u haven't though, UMich loves research.

My stats were 20AA/22TS/21PAT and a 3.6, and I got a dec 1st acceptance to Michigan. GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR!! 🙂

yea no need to retake..good job!

Pretty decent stats. Even if you don't get into Michigan, you have a very decent shot at getting into dental schools with decent ECs.

Great stats. I think that you will probably be ok, but if you have the time and the will to study and retake them and feel that you can do better i think you should go for it. With a GPA like that, an AA of 23 or 24 can make you a highly competitive candidate versus just a good candidate. I think you have a good shot at michigan but would be more likely with higher dat scores. GOOD LUCK!

Hopefully when i apply in four years, i get DAT scores like yours. 🙂 :luck:

those scores are very good...i wouldn't call it great because some people are pulling down ridiculous numbers. my only suggestion would be (asides from the regular shadowing, ECs) to apply EARLY!!!!! at one point i was worrying because I thought I applied late (aadsas received everything mid oct.). i had 22/22/21, so many would consider that to be a great scores. i was debating to take it again too. but now, i got my acceptance, and so all the worries are gone. just apply early, get great (NOT just good) recommendations, and you'll be set. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice everyone...I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I think I could do better, since I only studied for 3 weeks before taking the test, but I really don't want to go through that again. It's so nice to be done but we will see. I think if I apply early I'll be ok, but with the increasing competition I am a little worried. Anyways, thanks again for your help and good luck!

Is anyone willing to sell their dat destroyer, please message me🙂
