I'm going to be a Junior this year and I have a 3.78 GPA. I can't begin to express how stressed out I was for this test.. I started studying June 18ish which was honestly way too long. I could feel myself forgetting a lot of information that I went over in the beginning of my studies. I think about 6-7 weeks of studying 4-5 hours a day would be good for a 21. My first 4 weeks of study consisted of reading a 1 chapter of Cliff's and 1 chapter of KBB, and finishing off all of Chad's Videos. The next 4 weeks, I did about one Math destroyer test a day, did a CDP RC test every other day, and did a CDP PAT test every 4 days. I just did Qvault whenever I felt like depressing myself.

The Actual Breakdown:

PAT:
Overall, I feel as if CDP prepared me very well for this section, although the line counting method does not work on the actual DAT. Keyhole is a little more confusing because they like to test you on proportions. Hole punching was extremely easy and comparable to CDP. Angle ranking was a little easier than on CDP and cube counting and pattern folding were very similar to CDP as well.

QR:
Doing destroyer problems made this test seem like cake.. I only had 2-3 trig problems and the rest of the problems were very similar to what was in Math Destroyer. I also think Qvault is a fairly good indicator of how well you will do on the real thing.

BIO:
This is the section I studied for the least.. When I read through my materials the first time, I wasn't nearly as focused as I should've been. By the time I finished going through all the problems once, I had about 8-9 problems that I did not answer for bio. The worst question I can remember is some question about translocation or some shiz. Overall, pretty basic stuff. You either know it or you don't. If you do destroyer very seriously, you should ace this section.

GC:
I had about 5-6 calculation problems, but I only had to actually calculate the answer for one of them. The rest of them, I just had to set up the equation. I thought I aced this section for sure, but I guess not. LOL Chad's Videos is all you need for this section. Went over his quizzes 2x and looked over my notes 3x. Destroyer on top of that should give you over a 20 for sure.

OC:
Had a couple reactions I didn't know. I should've reviewed the Destroyer Road maps before I went to take the test. Again, Chad is great for this section. I went over Chad's quizzes 2x and looked over notes 3x, just like GC. Overall, a simple section.

RC:
Very easy!!! My passages were pretty short. One about oncogenes, another about glutamate, and the last about the effects of exercise on mental health. Had about a question on every passage that went something like, "which sentence would best fit at the end of this section?" And another couple questions that asked, "What was the author's intent on writing this passage?" Overall, CDP prepared me for this section. You just have to concentrate and get your mind together during the break. I did jumping jacks and looked myself in my mirror and told myself that I could do it. 😛

I made this post because I wanted to encourage those who feel as if they are "average." I am by no means a genius.. And I also was not as disciplined as I should've been. During my study period, I accomplished the following things:

Played about 200 games of HON
Finished all the Breaking Bad seasons
Read every Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece manga
Watched all seasons of Face Off
Watched about an hour of youtube everyday

In conclusion, if you put your whole focus and dedication into it, you can easily get over 23 on this test.

Also, if you're stressed out, I understand. I turned into an insomniac this summer. It literally look me 2 hours of laying in bed to get to sleep because I was stressing so much. Last night before my test, I tried to sleep at 11. I woke up at 1. Couldn't sleep till 4. Woke up at 7, slept at 8, and woke up at 10:30 to get ready for my test. Just study hard and relax for a couple days before the test.. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

What schools do you want to apply to? Which is your first choice?

We took the same DAT. Well done. I'm confused as to how others did so well on those RC passages. I found them to be difficult, however I didn't prepare as much as I should have. But I never scored that low, ever, on any practice materials.

You also owned the PAT. I thought I did too. I was surprised to see that I got an 18.

Anyway, good job.

I'm an SDA, so Loma Linda has always been my dream school! Other than that, I'm going to apply to UCSF, UCLA, Pacific.. Not too sure.
