Hi Everyone,

So I took the DAT for the first time this past monday. This is how I did:

Organic Chemistry: 22
biology:22
General Chemistry: 20
Reading Comprehension: 21
Quantitative Reasoning: 16
Perceptual Ability: 18
Total Science 21
Academic average: 20

I'm not sure where this puts me in terms of getting in to dental school but i'm hoping this should cut it. I really bombed the quantitative reasoning since i ran out of time problems and had so many word problems.

What did I use to study?
1. Destroyer- go thru it a couple times, take the class if you can. (Dr. Romano's class is extremely helpful.)
2. Kaplan book for quick reviews
3. Cliffs Biology notes to review all bio


I am applying to UMDNJ, Temple, Tufts, Boston U, NYU, Maryland, and SUNY Buffalo.


Having said all this, Let me know what you think my chances based on my DAT scores are.

Can you tell us a little more about the bio section?

Applied questions... in what areas? Lab techniques?? Destroyer stuff? Can you suggest what to study to prepare us for the bio section, since it seems so off the wall?

i applied to maybe 6 or 7 schools, just since my gpa is only about 3.0. I had a bad semester in my master's program that i'm currently in. Hoping to make for it this coming fall and get a few interviews that i hope i rock. but i'm keeping my fingers crossed until i hear anything.

Regarding the bio section, the questions were varied, there wasn't more of one topic than other. i'd use the destroyer understand why other choices are wrong in the question. Make sure you know your plant biology.

I got the same scores than you in everything except that I got a 21 in Orgo and a 21 in PAT. I was concerned about my QR but everyone said that everything else was very good and the QR was what schools cared the least about. Good luck!
