Im taking the DAT in a week. Ive noticed that there are a lot of people posting scores with AA in the 22 range, and TS of 23; then they ask if their score is competitive. I thought that scores this high are like way good, is the competition that much harder? Cause the adea books show average score of 19s for the DAT for those who got accepted to most schools. How come people ask if their scores are competitive if their scores are way higher than the average?????!!!!! Im starting to freak a little.

in reality scores of 19+ are pretty competitive. With good GPA and solid 19's and 20's ppl get in nowadays. Also remember, you see a lot of ppl posting good scores on here, but thats just a minority. How many people don't post their scores here at all?
And they ask because we're all nervous wrecks =D

I agree with Pbure9. I think the reason most people with 20+ scores ask whether or not their score is competitive enough is that they're all stressed out. I mean I ended up with 20+ scores and I still don't know whether or not I'm gonna get in this year. The whole admission process works in mysterious ways (I only got two interviews last year with AA:19 TS:20 PA:19 and I still don't know why the other schools rejected me). Since none of us can see into the future, we're all stressed out about the outcomes of this process, regardless of our scores. Besides, it always sounds better when other people say you have decent scores, no matter how high your scores are. So, it's more a matter of seeking support and encouragement from others rather than genuine concern about the scores.

we are a small small group of people here at SDN, heck I think we make up like maybe less than a % of the total applicants,so dont freak out TS and AAs above 22 are in the top 5% of the total applicants, they are considered pretty competitive so yes if u get 18 and above u still have a good chance of getting in.

Dont worry, I take mine the 19th, so Im freaking out as well! With that being said, don't worry about the scores people post. Not only is this a small fraction but how many people are really going to post crappy scores? Probably not many! Also, most of these scores are very above average. One of my friends scored in the low 20's last year and had about a 3.4 gpa and got 8 interviews! He got accepted to 6 schools! No joke and his science were like a 21 ochem, 20 bio, and 19 gen chem. Dont worry, it may be getting more competitive but were not jumping from average scores around the country of roughly around 18.6 to all of a sudden a year later of 25. DAT is just one part of many parts you need to get in.
