Hi Everyone-

So I just took my DAT on Thursday. Here were the results:

AA: 20
Bio: 19
Chem: 20
OChem: 21
RC: 21
QR: 17
PAT: 17

I've been on the edge about whether or not I should retake it. Do these scores seem good enough to feel comfortable? My cumulative science GPA is a 3.41.

My dream school has always been Columbia. Would these scores make me a competitive applicant or would I be better off retaking my DAT?

All advice is much appreciated!

retake.
I think columbia's avg dat is about 23.
i heard they were no. 1 in the country last year.
Your gpa tho should be fine.

If ur only going to apply to columbia, your chances are low of getting in.

If ur willing to change your mind, and push for other dental schools, I think everything on your application is good, except that PAT score, 17 seems to be fairly low for many schools. I think lowest average these days is around 18-ish for most schools.

The best thing you can do right now is to call up schools and see what they say.

Your AA should be a 19 with the scores you posted so no, unless you are a URM you will definitely need a retake if you want to get into Columbia.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking my PAT was on the low side, too. I'm definitely going to apply everywhere--Columbia has just always been my favorite school.

Also, the Academic Average is the the average of the following five score rounded to the nearest whole number: Biology, Chemistry, Ochem, RC, and QR. My average is a 19.6 which is then rounded to 20.

Retake; there was a girl in my Columbia interview who was working in admissions ( and was an applicant) who said they mostly take 23 or above. BUT, my friends with 22 and a few with 21 also got accepted. They care A LOT about dat and not much about gpa.
