Ok so in new here and am a undergraduate about to prepare to take the DATs in May/june 2013.

I was wondering if i can Just use the ULTIMATE PACKAGE by Crack the DAT, in order to do good on the dental entry exam.

or should i just get the Royal Flush EDition plus Cliffs AP bio and DAT Destroyer?

please help

thanks, Im excited to see any responses !

Eh, I've heard Crack the DAT is pretty much worthless besides PAT. Either way, the science/math portion of Crack that would be worthless without some quality review first. I'd highly recommend Cliffs/Chad's/Destroyer.

I agree with 2:30 for the most part.

I did the everything crack DAT had to offer. I only did 1 science and it was too challenging because the difference between the correct answer and a wrong was sometimes just the spelling. Not worth it.

The math part was too easy and repetitive. At one point I was scoring near perfect on them. It's awfully repetitive but it does hammer in cinversions and the like which did show up on the test. I don't think you need all 25 exams for it. First 10 exams should be good.

RC and PAT were very very good. For PAT they give you a question bank for hole punching, cube counting and angles. Highly recommend that. Helped me be able to do cubes in less than 4min and holes punching in less than 6 min on the real test after a lot of practice.

Though personally I didn't buy the entire thing. I found a random bug that let me access it all.

Cliffs and destroyer are an absolute must for a good score in the sciences. Also chads questions were good for the GC and OC.

Ok cool, I am going to consider in only getting the crack dat pat and crack dat RC.

And yes, definitely destroyer and Ap biology.

And to let y'all know , I still have not taken the basic dental pre-reqs , but I feel confident in myself to be able to study these materials and do good on the DAT's .

I plan on taking the DAT in 2013 may or June . And during the wait period take all the pre-reqs for dental.

ANY OPINIONS ON MY MASTA PLAN !

😉

You haven't taken a single pre req yet? If that is the case, I think taking the DAT this early would be a bit mistake. You can teach yourself the material, but having some background in the sciences makes it way, way easier. I can't imagine learning all of the sciences for the first time solely for the DAT. I doubt you're planning on applying in June with no pre-reqs done?

Yea , exactly , I am going take dat on may or June and in July August send info to the aadsas to apply for the 2014 dental school entry!

And during the year wait I will study the pre-req courses, Spring summer fall2013 and then sting and summer 2014.

And to add icing to the cake I plan on applying to Dental schools that do not require bachelors !

I wonder if anyone else is doing something similar.

Any opinions or tips ?

I don't think any school will go out on a limb and accept you without a proven academic record in the sciences. Your best bet is to complete the pre reqs by May 2014 and apply for the 2015 admissions cycle. I wouldn't attempt the DAT until you've completed at least the basic gen bio, gen chem, o chem sequence.

How much college have you finished, what's your major, gpa, ECs, shadowing hours?

i did take anatomy physiology 1 and 2 ( which fulfills most Biology pre-reqs for DS) like three yrs ago, i am finishing the Dental Hygiene program next semester (spring 2013). I did take Two maths already ( not calculus)

i have scheduled Gen. chem 1 for spring semester .

my overal cumelative GPA is approx 3.4.

i dont have any extra curricular activities ( WHAT IS RECOMMENDED ? )

I AM a dental assistant for like 8 years. And that is my shadowing.

to me thats is my strengths, the dental assistant position experience plus the Dental Hygiene degree and the OK GPA.

i think I can handle taking the DAT's With out taking Physics , organic chem, or general biology.

I am going to buy my study material for the DAT's maybe next week for christmass , lol kinda funny (i use to ask for toys for christmas, and now im asking for books from SANTA 😉 }

_Crack The DAT : most likely the ultimate package,
_Destroyer - 2 books
_ Cliffs AP BIO
_ and KAPLAN BLue Book

( i will keep y'all posted during my journey over the next year or two )

Please anybody with similar experience let me know if i can do anything else to better my chances.

Thanks two thirty, blake 1 e, and free99 for your feedback

I don't think you can do the DAT without taking organic chemistry. I think you should take organic chemistry first. Do not waste your time with Crack the DAT science, its useless. Also, buy the DAT destroyer, MATH destroyer, and Organic Chemistry Odysessy package. GL.

This is true for most people. However, I know people who have done what the OP is proposing and done the DAT with no pre-reqs. The difference is that they were extremely motivated and intelligent people that had more discipline than anyone I have ever known. Judging by the OP's posts in this thread and other threads, I don't think the shoe fits.

hmmm , im not getting much support from yall, its ok i know, it would hard to believe someone getting accepted without a bachelors and have taken the DAT's with out taking undergraduate dental pre-req courses.

but in any way, i will post my progress here on SDN,
i plan on taking DAT's in MAY/JUNE 2013

Please any dentist that has went through this path let us know especially me, 😉

As I said in the other thread, I was being too harsh. I deleted my comment as it wasn't useful.

You could possibly do what you are talking about, its definitely the vastly more difficult route. A more appropriate route would be to complete the majority of your pre-reqs before taking the DAT and planning to complete a bachelors before you matriculate. Your chances of admissions will skyrocket vs. taking the DAT before pre-reqs and attempting to matriculate without a bachelors with a mediocre GPA. Good luck whatever route you choose.

It's ok, and yea it's more difficult but I'm at a age where I don't want to waste more time ! 🙂 ( 27yrs old )

Thanks any ways
