I am needing some advise from people on here. I am singing up for DAT but I want to take it as late as possible being an early applicant. Do you think first week of August is too late?

Would it be a better option if I take it in the last ten days of July?

Please advise!

Thanks

to be an early applicant, which is pretty much the beginning of june, anytime after that your become a later and later applicant. so i would suggest you take it as early as possible

I am submitting my application by the mid of June though and it takes up to 4 weeks for TMDSAS (Texas Application) to process the application before schools look at it

well just take it when your ready, i mean if in 10 days you get boost your grade by 1 its worth it

i thought it doesnt get processed until your DAT score is sent, until then it is just put on hold.

It gets processed at the TMDSAS side BUT the dental schools put it on hold until they receive your DAT scores. That is my understanding of the procedure.

Ibraiz,

Do you know how many LOR is required for TX schools? Do three TX schools require it differently? I've looked through Baylor website but I could not find it.
I am non-traditional student so it is very crucial for me...

Sorry for beyond topics..... Thanks.

Texas schools require at least 3 Letters of Recommendation. On TMDSAS website it says "additional letters not recommended" lol. Out of 3 LOR at least 1 of them has to be from a practicing a dentist (you want to get the dentist who you shadowed).

You can only get one additional LOR if you are applying by yourself (meaning you are not going through Health Profession Advising Center (HPAC) process at your school).
If you are going through HPAC then I believe it depends on HPAC how many they allow. My school allows up to 5 (still 3 are recommended). In addition to your 3 LOR, HPAC also writes an additional LOR for the candidates.

If you are going through HPAC check with you

If you are going through HPAC, check with them how many they allow. PM if you have more questions. I hope it helps.
