When's the best time to take the DAT? I'm in Gen Chem and Bio right now and will be taking O-Chem over the summer. Does taking the DAT right after O-Chem next fall sound reasonable?

Also, I'm undecided whether to take Physics next year or instead take upper division Bio/Chem classes next year and take Physics during the lag year. I plan on applying Summer 2006.

I took it a couple of weeks after the o-chem final (I took o-chem in the summer) and I'd recommend it. the advantage is that the material will still be fresh in your mind. the downside, though, is that you won't have a lot of time to prepare since summer classes can be intense.

i would say give yourself a good month or so to prepare for the DAT. What you learn in your classes will help but honestly, it's best to prepare using a prep book for DAT, since it contains basically what you need, since you can't really study your entire textbook for each subject. The more you learned in class, the easier it'll be when you study from the prep book. But yeah, I'd say give yourself about a month to study and to do lots of practice problems, which help a lot~
