DAT tomorrow/Help tonight, Please!

My dat is tomorrow,Fri at 1 pm &
I am obsessing!
Can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
I feel like I lost my mind & can't even do simple math
please tell me what I am doing wrong here??
Q:Assuming Hardy-Weinberg conditions,when 16% of a population is homozygous recessive for a trait, the % that is heterozygous is?
1. 30
2. 25
3. 48
4. 24
5. 36
I used formula P2 + 2PQ + Q2 = 1
I plugged in 16% = Q2; so 4% = Q; 96% = P
This doesn't give me an answer close to the choices. Help!!
If someone could get back to me tonight or tomorrow morning (Fri) before my test, it would be great!

thanks so much; was going to ask what u were doing up and online, but it's earlier in Cali than Jersey, huh? this would definitely be a case of too much cram/brain fry; what a dummy! I see what I was doing wrong & thanks to you,this dumb problem will not haunt me on my way into the exam or all night long. Hope I wake up smarter tomorrow!

P+q=1, P=1-q=1-0.4=0.6,
so 2pq=2*0.6*0.4=.48=48%

q2=.16 so q=.4
p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 so
.36 + .48 + .16 = 1

My laptop is connected to Network 24/7 during the week. Sometimes you see me online, but I may not be there🙂
There is no dumb question. I've learned this and now ask any questions I have without worrying about people calling me dumb/ignorant/stupid. For this particular question, I did make the same mistake. This type of mistake comes up quite often when you're in rush. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

PAT:16
QR: 17
RC:19
BIO: 18
O chem: 19
Chem: 19
TS: 19
Pretty happy except with the math don't know what happened. I'll answer stuff about the test later. Thanks again

Good job! I'm taking the DAT on Nov. 17th and I was wondering how you prepared for the BIG 3 (aka Gchem, Ochem, Bio). I've heard the Kaplan Blue Book and flash cards are sufficent enough for G/Ochem, but when it comes to Bio the KBB is really only a basic overview. Any advice would help.

Just posted (too lengthy)info on test in separate post.Bio basics:used Campbell,Kaplan,AP Bio review(Schaum's?)questions were: evolut.,origin of life,cells, ,plants,taxonomy(1),ecology,cell division,reprod.,embry.,genetics-no big surprises -wording makes more difficult.

Isnt the heterozygous .48/2 = .24? because they are asking for pq, not 2 pq.

It's the same as your review notes, except, it doesn't have end-of-chapter problems.
