So I know u can use a simply calc like u get on your comp

But I am wondering are the questions which were the multuplication of two numbers or the questions regarding sq. rt. of like 0.0000009 taken out of the test now? I think they would seems too easy to just plug and chug lol?

Thanks Im takin dat tomorrow, I could use help!

Nope they are still in there. the sneaky thing they did though was instead of sq rt they have you do cube root which you cannot do on the cheesy calc given.

but even with sq rooting .0000009 is a piece of cake in your head
.0000009 = 9x 10^7--> 90x10^-8----> sq rt of that = apprx. 9.1x10^-4

for cube roots you do the same thing:
for ex: "what is cube root of .0000065?"

.0000065---> 6.5x10^-6--->(power is divisible by 3 so were good to go)----> = apprx. 1.7x10^-2---> .017

convert things to exponents (instead of fractions) and its so much easier. Even with percentage problems like this:

"What is 2% of 25% of 2.6?"

= .02 x .25 x 2.6
= (2x10^-2)x(2.5x10^-1)(2.6) = (2x2.5x2.6)^(-2+-1)= apprx. 12.6x10^-3 or 1.26x10^-2

Know how to use exponents and you'll be golden 🙂 I finish all my Math Destroyer tests with like 5-8 minutes to spare. It's all about strategies and knowing how to execute them quickly. I pray that works out for me during the real test

You can just do 2x2.5x2.6 on the calculator. This will give you 13. Then take into do the x 10^
This will give you 10^-3. So it's 13 x 10^-3, which becomes 1.3 x 10^-2.

u can scientific notion on the board just makes your life easier. punching like 6 zeros then 9 takes too long.

Add in that unless you make huge rounding or estimation error the answer choices are different enough you don't have to be exact.

you won't see 12.5 and 12.7 answer choices on questions with larger or complicated numbers.

on simpler ones though you might.

exactly! scientific notation is great, that's why even if you dont use the calculator and estimate (5x 2.6) you will still be able to get the right answer in no time
