Ok, so this summer I took the Dental Admission Test and I applied to dental school. I've been looking around at posts and I've noticed that other people have taken the DATs or the DAT test. Are the DATs a collection of tests that I needed to take before admission? If so, how important are the other parts of the Dental Admission Tests? Is the "DAT test" something I need to complete to show my own knowledge of the DAT? Where is the Dental Admission Test test offered? If I take "my DATs" as opposed to "the DAT" can I increase my chances of acceptance by making it possesive? What about those who have written the DAT? Does that just mean that they took a paper test instead of the DAT on the computer?

I am so confused! Please advise!

Do not be so confused. There all the same thing. Every one takes the same test by computer.😛

dudes, he's obviously joking and making fun of others

Is this a serious question?

I think this is great! I get sick of people saying "I wrote the DAT today" or "I took my DATs today!"

Haha, I only asked if he was serious because i didn't want to be an a$$hole and just laugh if it really was a serious question. Some of the questions that have been asked on this forum are absolutely ridiculous, but the OP is dead serious. I was really hoping this was a joke. I don't want to punch you in the face anymore 😀

I think the first question on the DAT should be:

What does DAT stand for?

That would weed out a few people.

What does it really stand for?

I've seen 2 versions actually, one on ada and one from school:
Dental Admission Test (ada) and Dental Aptitude Test (some schools website)

I've been using them interchangeably. 😱

On the ADA website the DAT is the Dental Admission Test. I say that any school that says otherwise (dental aptitude test) must not be a real dental school, but a gathering place for hobos and junkies.

I mean, think about it - Dental Aptitude Test? Wouldn't that imply that it is a test about dental knowledge and not a test about useless facts, numbers, calculations and hole-punching?

Actually, It's just Dental Admission Test, not Dental Admissions Test.
When you go to click on the DAT Discussions forum there is a link there for the DAT and it says Dental Admissions Test. Looks like the SDN creators would be weeded out as well.:laugh:

This thread needs to be constantly at the top of the message boards.

Am I seriously competing for admission to dental school with people who do not even know what the standardized test is called?!?!

Please...please...I'm to the point of begging..........

DAT, NOT DATs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
