I'm taking the DAT on Thursday. I was wondering what I'm allowed to use on it. Should I bring a calculator? Or are the calculations unneeding of one? Also, will there be a periodic table provided? What about pencils/scratch paper?

Thanks!

No calculators allowed--that would sort of defeat the purpose of the math section, where calculators would make it much easier.

In fact, nothing other than yourself is really allowed in the testing room. All items will be placed in a locker prior to entering the test room.

The periodic table, if needed, is on the screen. You are provided with pencils and scratch paper that you use and then turn back in.

Are you serious? You're taking the exam on Thurs and YOU don't know the answer to these questions??? I'm sorry, but you don't sound prepared. Might I recommend you postpone, take a Top Score practice test, see how you do, then take the actual DAT. Sounds like you're setting yourself up for failure. At any rate, best wishes. Here are the rules to the DAT:

I felt the same way when I read his question. I was like WHAT??? But these are the kind of people who sometimes just walk into the SATs and get 1500's. They just don't worry about it cause they're too smart to! Good luck anyhow. :luck:

ack, sorry I gave off the wrong impression. I've been preparing for this all summer, but I didn't see any of the "no calculators, etc" in my Kaplan book. I assumed they wouldn't be allowed, and since they had a page or two devoted to just the periodic table, I assumed it would be provided. I just wanted to make sure!! I just didn't want to get there and find out that I could have brought a calculator 🙂

Whew!!! Okay, you're making me feel a whole lot better. No calculator is allowed. They'll provide you with pencils, scratch paper. The periodic table is accessible by pressing the Exhibit button on the computer interface. Good luck.

haha, yeah. No worries. Kaplan has been my bible!

Thanks for the info! I won't be bringing pencils or paper with me then.
