I will be taking the DAT maybe next year IDK yet. I finished chemistry in summer, and I thought what if I just read chemistry maybe 30-60min a day, which I really do not mind and enjoy to be honest. If I do this daily I should be pretty well versed in chemistry, do you think it is a good idea. I have yet to take O chem, but honestly reading chemistry everyday from the first chapter really is not that brutal. What do you think, because most people usually study 2-3 months before and try to cram as much as possible or to learn as much as possible, but why not just put some time into your day maybe 1 year ahead to review what you have learned.

there is more than just chemistry on the DAT. I don't completely understand what you're asking here but I think you're asking should you study for an hour a day for a year to prepare for the DAT? I guess you could do that but I think most people prefer cramming it into 2 months or so and just getting it over with during summer or winter break. But if you feel doing an hour a day is better for your style of learning then go for it!

Just reading ochem if that's what you decide to do won't help. That is all about practicing and drawing it out. And you could arguably say the same with general chemistry. Reading and studying for an hour a day would realistically only help you in the reading comprehension section and biology since it requires a general knowledge. Studying for the chemistries requires practice practice practice.

What would i recommend?

One question a day and spending 30 minutes understanding or googling etc why the answer is what it is. After a year of that you will have 365 practice problems under your belt before you begin the 2-3 months of real studying, you should be well prepared.
