Took DAT today, I am very happy and dissapointed at the same time. Dont really know what to make out of it. Just relieved its all over.
Anyway...
TS-21
AA-20
QR-15
RC-14
PAT-18
GC-19
BIO-20
OC-30

What do you guys think?
Study materials: Topscore and Destroyer.
QR: I ran out of time, the problems were not too bad..Remember: start with the easy ones you know and work your way up to the word problems..Guessed on about 10-15 ran out of time..Saw a few destroyer problems. Math is doable, the problem is the time.10 more min 20-or higher easy.....So for time see Topscore and problems and concepts..destoryer and purplemath.com.
Reading: My mistake was I read the passages this killed a lot of time..the key here is read quickly 2 min max..then read the question and start looking for answers..w/e these two sections sucked..practice both qr and reading on topscore for timing..
GC: I thought I did better, I had close to around 3-4 calculations and the rest was conceptual..Do destroyer for this section, I saw a lot of similar type questions and concepts..
OC: Destroyer. ON THE MONEY.
BIO: They asked some weird ****...Things I never heard of or learned.. For things like this..See Destroyer, saw many direct hits..When studying have a bio text to refresh, and do all the problems in and out..

Thanks to all of you SDNer's! Hope this helps.

Nice perfect OCHEM but I hate to say it but I think you are going to have to retake the test because the 14 and 15 might outweigh the 30 in OC but I'm not sure. At this point I think you should roll with these scores and see if they land you anywhere. If not just retake them early summer and work on that RC. Wish you best of luck!

way to go!!!! 🙂 🙂

you did really well!!! 🙂 🙂 i think you should be ok! 🙂
i took it today also and bombed the math and reading too! you really rocked the orgo though!! wow!!

hate to say it but that RC score is going to kill you. call up the schools and double check, but i have a feeling you might have to retake because of that...

from what i understood, for the orgo section, 30/30 implies a score of 29. I thought that unless you got perfects on both others coudl you get a 30 in ochem. i may be wrong.. some1 wanna clarify?

why would the orgo section be out of 29 when there are 30 orgo questions?

All of the sections are worth 30 each, but they obviously do not have 30 questions each. RC has 40, BIO has 40 etc.

Essentially, due to the way the scores are calculated, which is not something I fully understand nor have the ability to explain, one could have a perfect Ochem section but still have a score of 29. They would, however, have that 30 calculated into their TS and AA, IIRC.

Any scoring guru please correct me as necessary!

At this point just go withthe flow and see what happens. I would continue to study to stay fresh in preparation for a retake if nothing happens.

Best of luck!

Nice orgo! The RC and QR will probably be below the minimums for most schools. I wish I would have used other materials rather than only Kaplan to study.

I'm going to have to agree with the others. Your Orgo score is insane. But unfortunately many schools put a lot of weight on RC because of it's correlation with the boards. Call up some schools and see what they say. You're obviously intellegent judging from your science scores, so if a retake is in order I'm sure you can handle it.

to those of you confused about how if a 30 on orgo is possible, go look at the score frequency tables from last year (link: http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/index.asp the link is on the right hand side of the page). Sometimes a perfect score on a section doesn't get you a 30, sometimes it does, it changes every year.

Good job on those scores though. You might have to take it again to pull your bad sections up to an acceptable level, but when you send your scores in they see every test you've taken for the last two years so that awesome OC score won't disappear

why would the orgo section be out of 29 when there are 30 orgo questions?

Why would the Bio section be out of 30 when there are 40 questions...why would PAT be out of 30 when there are 90 questions...why would QR be out of 30 when there are 45 40 questions...why would RC be out of 30 when there are 50 questions. Thinking the section was out of 29 is legitimate, considering its 99.9th percentile. So ease off.

au5233, you're absolutely right, so just ignore that person. Some years the individual science sections are only out of 29, 28, or even 27 even if you get every question right (though you'd still get a TS score of 30, since thats a completely different scale rather than an average).

congrats joey413. good job on the orgo-it is a crazy score that will stand by your side when they will review your application. keep us posted about your interviews. GOOD LUCK !!!!
