I'm thinking about deactivating or locking social media (facebook, Twitter, Instagram, even this SDN site) in order to better focus in the first semester of dental school. Any thoughts or opinions on this from experienced dental students?

Facebook was VERY helpful during my first year of dental school...a lot of us on the class FB group shared study guides and supplementary study material for exams/presentations!

Can one deactivate fb and then reactivate at a later date? Tell me how to do it please!

You can, it hidden all the way in the back of the settings. Facebook never deletes anything (scary right?), there's actually a very lengthy process to get your profile expunged.

I personally never had a problem with spending too much time on social media, it just get boring after awhile. It's being really helpful already with future classmates helping each other out with housing, computers, etc.

I do have a problem with reddit though...but that's just self-control since reddit doesnt have a deactivate button.

If you've made it into dental school, you have enough self control to handle social media on top of your studies. 🙂

Yeah, I probably take FB breaks too often... but hey, it's worked out for me so far! LOL!

First year sucks, and hey, sometimes you NEED THOSE BREAKS.
