Dear pre dental advisor:

I'd like to meet with you for advise about going to Dental school. These are my qualifications:

I'm a woman 😱
I'm Latin 😱
I have 2 children :scared:
I'm 30 yrs old 😱
I'm not a 4.0 GPA student 😱
My major is not longer Biology 😱
I fell on my stairs and had to stay in bed for 3 weeks, so I got imcompletes this semester! :wow:

Has any advisor stopped you from your dreams? Has anyone ever tell you that you will not make it?

I switched majors and thank God my new advisor gave me strength to keep going. Don't give up!

Welcome to SDN! 👍 As you have probably found out your choice of major isn't all that important in terms of dental school. As you utilize the resources here on SDN I hope you'll become a regular contributor to our community.

ouch, are you getting better? i really hope you get well soon. make sure you wont fall or hurt yourself again.

have u taken your DAT?
why did u decide to switch major?
how are u handling your family and school?
it is definitely doable in dental school. i know many fathers and some mothers in my school. it is all about balance.

just concentrate and good luck

My back is so much better!

Got the impletes and I really miss school.

I decided to switched majors as I realized that doing Biology with my kids and all was going to be super hard. I did 3.5 yrs of college before and all I have left is sciences.

Dental school will be no joke, but they will be older 6 and 10 and then life should get a little easier in this department!

I want to spend more time with my children. These are the best yrs.....so I choose Health Sciences Biology track. So no DAT for another 4 yrs!

I commute to Miami for school and I really hope we don't get bad hurricanes again!

Last year I had to study for a Bio I exam with a flashlight! 😱

Dental Mom, welcome to SDN. You aren't as alone as you may feel in the process. Your age certainly doesn't define you as being different (although you're older than most dental school applicants/matriculants, there will still be students older than you in when you go to dental school).

There are also lots of parents in dental school (I'm one!), and quite a few people without science majors (I have a degree in English!).

You can do it and be successful. Once again, welcome!

ItsGavinC,

thank you and congratulations for been in Dental school! WOW! 2 more yrs and you are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job sticking with it!! Keep up the good work and best of luck! 👍

totally and i think that college advisors are all misleading!

i stopped listening to them a very long time ago and fabricated my own, very interesting approach to (a) graduating and (b) getting into dental school

i think, in the long run, it's always better to make your own decisions after learning the rules of the game (which took me such a long time to learn 😳 )

-hope you feel better! welcome! and good luck!
