A lot of my secondaries have an "additional info" section, and I'm debating what to put there. In general, is it usually more helpful to put the diversity essay there (assuming that question isn't already asked on the secondary) or just write "why X school"? I've heard mixed reviews about which one contributes more to your application

Additional info as in: Address, telephone numbers, etc...?
or, as in: "What else would you like to tell us?"

"What else would you like to tell us?"

Have you done anything new lately? Are you planing or preparing to do something in the upcoming year? Talk about stuff that's not already in your application.

I talked about an interest I didn't get a chance to talk much about in the primary. I basically used the additional info as a fourth "most meaningful" essay and I think it has worked out well - I think it adds a lot of depth to my application since it pulls together a few of my EC's.

I literally started the essay with something to the effect of, my primary application does not fully show my passion for X.

I wouldn't just stick a diversity essay there because it sort of makes it seem like you just copy and pasted that essay from other secondaries. In my opinion, a "Why this school" essay would be more appropriate.

+1. That's what I've been doing, then peppering in the diversity bit/ why you'd be a good fit to weave it all together.

I used those sections for an update on some grades and shadowing I had done since submitting my AMCAS and, if a school didn't ask anywhere else, I put in a diversity essay. My diversity essay was an important aspect of my app though and I felt it was something I wanted ADCOMS to see.

I think the section should be used to really highlight anything about your app/yourself that stands out about you that you have not had a chance to talk about.

EDIT: I should add that I've never really found the 'why this school' essay very useful so my opinion is biased based on that.
