I know that we get our acceptances dec 1. But do we also get rejection letters as well?

From my understanding, yes, rejection notices can also arrive on December 1st.

I'm saying do schools wait to send out massive amounts of rejections along with the acceptances.

I think it depends on the school. I am sure some schools will give out rejections if you interviewed pre-december (like UF said if you interview pre-December you will know if you are accepted/rejected/or an alternate in December). I have heard of others notifying people of rejections in bulk when the entire cycle is over for that school, and some like Case give rejections along the way.

i started a thread today on this topic as well. i really hope dec. 1 brings some kind of news for pre-dec. interviewees. it would suck to not hear anything on that day.

"It would suck" even more waiting until the end of May to get a "I am sorry to inform you that the admission committee...".

I think it depends on the school.

That being said, the Dec.1st date is a regulation or law if you will saying the NO school is allowed to send out acceptances before then. There is no such rule for rejections (as some of us have unfortunately found out) so I don't see why any school would wait until dec1st to tell someone they'd been rejected once the adcom had already made that decision.

It'd be especially cruel if they did it by phone! Lol. See an unknown number on dec1 and get all excited and someone says "JUST KIDDING, you're out!" - michael scott moment for the office lovers on SDN.

speaking from experience as a re-applicant i can say that you will not necessarily receive rejections on dec.1. in fact, i did not hear anything from several schools until the 2011 cycle began (june/july) when i submitted my new app through aadsas. even those schools i had interviewed at. 🙁

But i agree...rejection via phone would hurt
