Hi current dental students,

Any tips/insight on what is usually communicated in the acceptance phone calls on Dec 1 from the person who calls, and advice on things we are expected to say/should say?

Are we expected to accept the offer or give any sort of such indication over the phone? Do we just say thank you or have a longer conversation? I really have no idea how any of this works. I will be in school most likely when I get calls so kinda worried. Any sharing of personal experience/knowledge would be much appreciated.

Thanks 🙂

I remember that the only school that actually called me was UCONN. At that time, the Dean pretty much called everyone who was accepted into the incoming class, since they are on the lower range of class sizes. I just attempted to convey gratitude, and it was relatively brief! All other schools were emails at Midnight or by 9 am that morning.

Phone calls start at 6AM for some schools, which can be problematic if you're in a different time zone. I ended up getting a phone call at 5:30AM and was definitely not anywhere near awake when I answered, so I'd recommend either turning your phone off until 8AMish or committing to having an early morning just in case someone calls. What you say isn't really important as long as you sound excited (which shouldn't be hard) and there's a "thank you" in there somewhere. They're not going to revoke your acceptance over how you respond over the phone. 🙂
