Im going to make this short and let everyone give their opinions. I need to decide between going to Buffalo, LECOM, Ohio State, UIC, or WVU for my pharmD. Pros and cons please.
Also feel free to insult the schools or be biased.
Thanks!

Did you get accepted at all of those schools or are you looking to apply to each of those schools?

The only school I know about is LECOM (assuming you mean LECOM-E?). It's a 3 year program, not a 4-year, which has its pros and cons. Pro: done in 3 years, relatively low tuition. Con: it's tough to do any internships or co-ops in the summer.

I got accepted to UB and have had interviews at OSU and LECOM with interviews still to come at UIC and WVU. I had other interview offers at duquesne, albany, etc. But cancelled because they are sub-par. LECOM is also not a well respected pharm school and starts you taking easy classes that you should have IMO taken during undergrad like physiology, biochemistry, and microbiology.
One plus for OSU is they require a BS before applying and are ranked #5 in the USA. I have all but discounted LECOM because even though they are cheaper and quicker, they are only 10 years old and not well respected. I am just looking for some comments on all of these schools even though i am clearly leaning toward OSU since they are ranked well and have higher admissions standards.
Also, FYI i am a PA resident so no in state tuition for me. I know UB and OSU allow you to get in state after P1 year but i am unsure of the other 2 (LECOM is private so tuition is always the same).

WVU. Nice weather and girls.

But not a highly ranked pharmacy school not to mention their undergrad education is a joke.

You should not look at undergrad when looking at the pharmacy school, as you won't be an undergrad. Was my mistake when not applying to Rutgers.

Disregarding undergrad, WVU still is put to shame by OSU, UIC, and UB pharmacy school rankings. The prestige of these pharm schools and deciding which is better is a matter of little debate. OSU>UIC>UB>WVU>LECOM but what I am looking for is info about everything besides the curriculum and prestige of the school. Just some advice about living in these locations, getting rotations, hottness of girl even... anything but which school is better for an education because that is fairly cut and dry.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

ehhh u r contradicting yourself, when izod told you wvu had nice weather and girls, you discredited it by saying the school sucks at academics... this and ur other reponses make it seem like you already made up ur mind, don't see the point of this thread, other than the fact maybe you are trying to brag how many options you have

for me, when I got accepted into my top choice, i canceled all my other interviews, so just go to OSU (if u get accepted) b/c it's what u want to do

WORD on all accounts!

Congrats on your acceptances. However, if someone says "Also feel free to insult the schools or be biased" with regards to a school of Pharmacy, it reeks of tool and I'm embarrassed that this person will be entering the profession.

So allowing bias is horrible but using the word "tool" to describe a fellow student is righteous? Seems like you should find a better use of time than insulting people who are simply looking for any honest opinion about schools which will take 4 years and $100k. It is an important decision which is why i am inviting ANY comment, biased or otherwise.
If you wish to call someone a tool for speaking their mind then go back to high school and let the mature people talk. Bias exists everywhere and pharmacy school is no exception. I am looking for any opinion and there is nothing unscrupulous about that which should "embarrass the profession" as you so elegantly stated.
So anyone with opinions on these schools please post them. Chemguy please find a better hobby than insulting people over the internet like a "tool."

The statement that I referred as "toolish" was "Also feel free to insult the schools or be biased," which was in extremely poor taste. If you fail to understand why that is in poor taste, regardless of your wishes to "inviting ANY comment, biased or otherwise," I believe that it speaks poorly on you.

I was calling your statement to be that of a "tool," I was not referring to you. I'm sure that you're a charming chap as you have clearly displayed in this thread that you have created.

With respect to speaking one's mind, a wise man once said ...
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

If you do not wish to speak about the schools please do not post on this thread. I will not entertain the thoughts of someone who wishes to start an argument over the internet. I would still like to hear any thoughts on the schools but i do not want to have a debate over symantecs with chemguy. Chemguy - please do not continue posting unless you have something to say about the schools. You are wasting my time and your time with a stupid argument so please find a better hobby than insulting people on a forum who are simply looking for advice.
Anyone mature enough to discuss these schools with insulting each other please still post. Like i said, I am leaning towards OSU but I really am unsure.
Thank you for the advice and thank you for discontinuing your posting chemguy.

Woah, woah, woah, dude, back up. This is a PUBLIC FORUM. Anyone can post whatever they want. This is not your personal corner of the interwebz.

chemguy79, 👍 for explaining the "tool" reference calmly. Keep it classy.

bw6, you just offended me with your last post, and I have nothing to do with this thread. Your whole attitude is repugnant. There is a repository of information on SDN - go check that out. You feel your personal decision - the same personal decision we all have to make - is important enough to solicit mudslinging? Wow. 👎

Keep it civil everyone. Be respectful and contribute positively, please.

And always remember, if someone annoys you, you can always set them to "ignore" by clicking on their name next to their post and adding them to your ignore list. Much more productive than letting some stranger's comments affect your blood pressure. 😉

Thanks Mod.
Still looking for any advice regarding UIC, OSU, LECOM, WVU, or SUNY-UB. If you go to any of these schools or visited the area pros and cons are welcome.

+1 Timely Mod Point

shweet! A while back some told me to save up my points to cast Internet Win, I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I am almost certain the more points I earn the better chance I have of rolling a six or above (or something, I don't really know how that works).

I think I only have a few points left until my next upgrade. 😀

Oh yeah, sorry to derail your thread, I am on the wrong coast to offer any opinion of those schools, sorry. I know I just picked the cheapest school when I was in your shoes. Whatever you pick, good luck! :luck:
