I know this topic has been covered already, but I couldnt find anything that satisfied my question or confusion. I got into Case today off the waitlist! Before this I was planning on going to UAB as an out-of-stater. My girlfriend is a journalist and when I decided on UAB I told her she should apply to the newspaper there. So she is probably going to end up getting this job (they are doing a background check, which seems is the last step), and it pays pretty well for a journalist. She doesnt think she can find a better job elsewhere. I guess we are both pretty career oriented.

Anyways I liek Case because of the curriculum and of the opportunities it provides over UAB, but other than that the schools seem pretty comparable to me (neither impressed me more than the other). I am also on the waitlist at another school, where if I got in I would definitely jet over there. My family thinks I should pick Case, and she even thinks I should pick Case. We've been dating for a long time (like since high school) and have done long distance before, but we arent sure if we are up to the challenge again knowing how tough it is. Anyways, I was wondering how much weight I should give her being in Birmingham to deciding between these schools. Again, this would all be moot if i get in to my top choice.

Right now I think I like Case more as a school. Also, she says she could possible try and change jobs after 1 or 2 years, so she may be able to move anyways.

I'd prob go to Case, if she's supportive of it. Here's hoping NU calls you and renders the point moot.

You too eastsidaz...hopefully all that calling and writing will pay off

She is supportive of it in terms of making the decision for my career, but she isnt sure if we will be able to keep it together long distance during those years. We have one of those weird relationships where we went to teh same middle school then changed schools and ended up at the same high school a couple years later. Dated on and off. Then we both ended up at the same undergrad and dated on and off pretty seriously, and now up until today we were both gonna end up at the same city after college (and Birmingham of all places!). Seemed too weird to be a coincidence. I guess now I have to choose if I want to break that.
