Deciding to study for the DAT over the holidays

I am going to school in california but florida is home, so since i am not going home for the holidays i decided to study for the DAT. This semesters ends on the 16th of this months and spring 2012 semester starts on the 26th of jan 2012.. so i have about 6 weeks to study.. veryHard

the only thing is i have not taken Ochem... i will be taking it when the semesters starts in jan but i have taking general chem and bio.

it that a good idea or not?

also spring semester 2012 i will be taking ochem, physics and 3 classes for my masters so that why i didnt want to wait and instead study for the DAT during the holidays..

i was also going to sign up for the Kaplan course online to help with the study during those 6 weeks. please let me know your opinions... and what you think is best..

#2 should i have waited after Ochem
#3 is the Kaplan online course worth it..

#1 It is a good idea to study for the DAT over the break

#2 It is not the best idea to take the DAT without taking 2 of the 6 covered courses for the science section (2 ochem, 2 gen chem, 2 general bio). I would recommend waiting unless you think you can nail down 2 semesters worth of O-chem plus study for the other portions.

#3 Didn't use it but have heard decent comments about the online material.

I've read people on here that have taught themselves ochem and have done decently well.

For me, I couldn't take it without taking ochem first....ochem is so different from any other subject I would be like wtf 😕

But it's possible. You'll just have to study extra hard and make sure you teach it to yourself well! Good luck👍

Good luck with O-chem for the DAT I would wait to take it because there are a lot of key concepts to grasp. Kaplan course online is helpful I recommend it.

At least take O-Chem 1 first.

I am not doing O-Chem 2 before the DAT, but O-Chem 1 lays the groundwork to learn O-Chem 2.

You could do this without taking either O-Chem, but probably not in 6 weeks. I have been learning O-Chem 2 for 2 months and am just now starting to feel prepared for my DAT in the middle of January...not to mention studying for all the other subjects.

Thanks for the input i will wait after spring semester and take the DAT in June.
