Deciding which school, need help

I have acceptances at OCPM, NYCPM, and Temple. I don't think I want to live in Harlem, so NY is at the bottom already. I'm looking for opinions from Podiatry graduates/residents on these three schools, and regardless of where you went to school what the general perception is of these three.

Obviously clinical experience and the strength of the academic programs are priorities. The oppertunities for the best residency placement is also very important to where I go.

NY and Temple both claim to have the best clinical experience, and of course OCPM looks like a 4 star hotel.

I guess I am leaning toward Temple at this point, but I don't have long to make a decision and any guidance would help. Please don't just talk up whereever you went though. I am looking for objective opinions which is why I posted this to the Residents/graduates section.

NYCPM has a lot of people, therefore a lot of experience. There is no shortage of residency programs in the NYC area. There are unfilled slots in this area currently. They see VOLUME patients, lots and lots of patients. Speaking Spanish will help as there is a high Spanish speaking population there. There is also a large amount of Asian speaking patients but there are so many different Asian languages. Interpreters are often available.

Temple has many patients too, and is a good program. Did you visit Philly? It's very nice. You'll also get VOLUME patients in this area. Many of the Temple students seem cut throat, competitive. I don't know if this is still the case.

OCPM moved their school from Cleveland to a suburb of Cleveland. You may want to check with them to see how many patients they have and what their graduate placement is like. There are not nearly as many residency opportunities in OH as there are in PA or NY.

OCPM still has the same clinical programs as they did before and their graduate placement is great every year (when 2009's is available I will post it, but 2008 was impressive). OH has 14 residencies on CASPR, which isn't bad. (still one of the top 5 states in terms of #s) even though it isn't quantity that you should really be looking for, its quality.

All pod schools have successful alumni and students who match good residency programs every year. The key is just to apply yourself wherever you go.

Of the schools you list, I may lean towards Temple since the school has strong clinical experience, good externship structure, and a lot of history/name value. The downsides I see would be tuition rates and Philly, but as you stated, living in NYC isn't a picnic either. There will be a lot of info on each pod school if you search SDN, but take it all with a grain of salt. Picking a pod school (like making a residency choice) is ultimately a personal decision. Try to visit all the programs you are considering. GL
