I need to make a decision between columbia and nyu. Columbia was my first choice and one of the main reasons why I wanted to go to columbia was it has a very strong didactic curriculum whcih allows students to achieve great board scores (more possibility to go into specialty). But, there was news a few weeks ago regarding new format of NDBE and it's going to Pass/Fail from 2010. Also, ADA mentioned that they are going to emphasize more on clinics. So, one of the biggest advantages of going to Columbia no longer applies. I am thinking and rethinking. still didn't come up with answer~ what do you guys think?? colum? nyu??

Doesn't change the fact that the class is way too large at NYU and very expensive. I think if you do well it will show regardless of the format. If I were you I'd still stick to Columbia.

Which one is in a better city?.... 😀 jk

I can't really tell you which one to choose because it's really about the school that's a better fit for you... but I will throw out there that Columbia is almost $100,000 cheaper over the 4 years... A man once told me that you should never consider the cost of a good education a burden, but if you look at the difference that $100,000 makes over the span of a 25 year (or even 10 year) repayment plan, it's really hard to ignore...

I think Columbia would be a good choice, since it's cheaper. NYU is a good school, and will become even better in the near future. But, money is too much of an issue to ignore. Plus, a small class size always helps.
gl!

you make 100,000 easy your first year 🙂

True, but after paying taxes, servicing your loans, and paying for living expenses, nothing close to that 100,000 is left to go towards your principle.

Why would you go to NYU? To possibly place in a higher percentile in your class? That is a really bad reason.

cuz all the dentists I have known told me it's wise to choose clinically strong school.
