Deferment or Forbearance?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was able to put all my loans in deferment when I did my GPR. If the program you are going to enrolls you as a student, which is what a lot of AEGD programs do that are part of dental schools, then you usually apply for in-school deferement. I ended up putting mine into economic hardship because my program wasn't associated with a school.

The first thing you should do is talk to either your school financial aid office or your lender to find out what types of deferment are offered and what are the criteria. Then talk to the AEGD/GPR program and find out what your status will be while you're a resident. Then fill out the necessary paperwork. You can also check with the past residents to find out what they did.
