Which programs provide either/both of the following:

1. Deferred admission, i.e. allowing students admitted to the CURRENT CLASS to postpone enrolling to an ensuing FUTURE CLASS?

2. Admission to a FUTURE CLASS for wait-listed students who do not receive an offer to the CURRENT CLASS being admitted?

Easy big fella. Ignorance is being exposed.:beat:

Pull up your muffin-toppers.

This isn't a personal attack, just an honest question. Why not wait and apply when you're ready?

I'm already in 4 places ... 2 others have offered contingencies. And I'm just wondering about others. Geez ...ignorance is bliss, it seems. Must be tough being so smart. I'd not know.

Whoa, what was that for? I have no way of knowing what your situation is. Yikes.

What's the point of your question? Didn't illumine mine much, did it? Help me ...what is the honest question?

OT2Be2013 ... do you know who Abbott and Costello were? They did a famous skit, "Who's on First." You may wanna check it out. 😉

As for deferred admission, I haven't heard of schools doing this UNLESS you were on the waitlist and last minute they accept you but say you do not have enough time to get your finances/living situation figured out. I have not heard of any schools doing option 2 but there might be some out there or perhaps you receive priority in review of your application the next time around.

There is no need to reply rudely to me or any other user on this board. In fact, it's plain uncalled for. It is an unusual question, so I was curious about the circumstances that prompted it, nothing more.

I'll be getting back to the real world now. I can't imagine I would stick around you much longer out of anything but politeness if this conversation weren't online.

Hehehe...little sensitive today, piglet? I thought you actually had something funny coming with that opening post...and I was sorta right. Anyway, you know I like you. From one duck to a pig, we are in this barn together. Sorry, Babe.

Hey gOTROX ... you quack me up. 🙂 Back atcha.👍

Now, 2013, I think you might well benefit from a sentence in the real world where whining has no value.

But before you go ... again ... you asked ..."Why not wait and apply when you're ready?" and then you defend it in saying ... you were "...curious" of the circumstances.

Can you explain, please help this dummy out, in sharing with readers what the deuce one has to do w/ the other?😕 Do tell before you go into hibernation.:eyebrow::bang::prof::shrug::sendoff:

You know, our president fears Donald Trump and refuses to engage him ... because he does not pander, just tells the truth. Now it's your turn to give that a go.🙄

The tone of this concerns me for the future of this professional calling.

I hope this does not turn into another ugly thread.

I ask that you do not take OT2Be2013's comments so negatively. I also had the same reaction when reading the question because it is the first time it has been asked in this forum. The purpose of this forum is to help each other out and brainstorm ideas for the sake of finding out as much as possible regarding the profession and entry into a program.

Thinking about how competitive entry into Occupational Programs is at the moment, my guess for all the majority of schools would be that there might be a slim chance of having your acceptance deferred. BUT! I do not know about the programs you’re looking into, just those I applied to. My suggestion is to call the department of Occupational Therapy at all the schools you wish to enter so that they can tell you more. As OT2BE2013 mentioned you might have a unique situation, so the best way to know for sure is to contact those schools directly. I know for sure Columbia, NYU & Seton Hall do not offer deferred acceptance. I was wait-listed in NYU and Columbia last year and that did not offer me anything extra this year, even though I was admitted to NYU I was rejected (not even wait listed!) at Columbia.

I hope this helps WhistlePig!

P.S. Let’s keep it civil, I know the world is pretty tough and I imagine most of us have lived life long enough to experience that. However there is no need to bring negativity here, it does not help anyone here. I have been in the forum since last year and have found it a great place to learn, and would like to keep it that way for those who wish to benefit from it now and in the future.

Have a Blessed Good Friday and a Happy Earth Day Everyone!!!

Thank you for seeing my point of view, Penguinita. That was sound advice. You have a good head on your shoulders.
On that note, I would think it does take a unique situation- at my school anyway, a medical leave or something of that nature.

As for you, Whistle Pig... I have no idea what gave you the notion that I was being dishonest, but whatever. I am a genuinely nice person who was only asking for more information. It's so weird reading your posts- I just got back from conference and met so many good people in the field, and you come off as the antithesis to all of them. In the interest of professionalism, I do hope that you learn to lighten up a little, because yes, real life is tough and so is OT school... but a little grace goes a long way. And I would probably refrain from telling strangers over the internet that they haven't seen the "real world" yet... I've seen more than you'll ever know. Be careful- we might be your co-workers and/or supervisors one day.
