Does anyone have personal experience or know someone who has deferred their admission? I will be interviewing at LECOM-SH next week and hopefully that will turn in to an acceptance. The LECOM website says they will only allow students to defer due to military deployments but I hope they will make an exception. My baby boy is going to be born with a severe heart defect and will require open heart surgery within the first few months of his life. This will be taking place around July and August. I would need to defer in order to keep my job and health benefits plus it would be difficult being away from family during this time.

As a parent of a child who had serious health complications at birth I sympathize with you. I hope everything goes well and want to say that any school that doesn't help you out and let you defer doesn't deserve you as a student. Things do get better, goodluck!
