unfortunate. I would assume your locums company got paid by the hospital you worked at within 30-60 days of completing your assignment. They may have been using that money to pay out previous other employees though and relied on new money to pay you out. I would hope a reputable company would not be having this problem, but I would assume you have almost no recourse because if they go bankrupt it is not exactly the kind of business that will have a lot of hard assets to pay with.

I have heard BAD things about locums companies lately. Considering just about every contract was emergently cancelled in April (we sure did for CRNAs), their $$ very quickly dried up. With the possibility of future wave(s) and elective surgeries being halted again, it’s a risky time to be in locums.

I got a call from comp health on thursday still trying to recruit me.

@chocomorsel you do a lot of locums. any news?

Too many lowball offers from CompHealth.

This has been my experience as well. They waste your time with dozens of question but are elusive about rates and exact location.

I’ve always been paid within 2 weeks of service. OP you should out the locums company so everyone will know to avoid.

Agreed. Name the company.

Once they start with the questions, Just turn the tables on them. Start firing back with your own questions that are SPECIFIC to the job and the PAY. Then tell them youre being called away.. BYE BYE

Unfortunately you are SOL, unless you want to sue them which would entail hiring a lawyer to retain 1/3. Just hope they will pay you. I was in this boat 10 years ago. Company owed me about 20k. Didnt have the money to pay me because the client was out of money. Then they told me they would pay me 1000/week for 20 weeks. I bailed, but they eventually paid me..

I completely agree and this has been my experience is well. My recommendations are:

1) Set up an independent "throw-away" email address
2) Sign up for google voice and get a "throw-away" phone number
3) Set the number to "do not disturb"
4) Post on gaswork and doccafe and only give out the throw-away number and email
5) Screen all the replies and offers and have built in responses to the masses of recruiters
6) Over time you weed out the spammers and learn who is actually trying to find you a spot versus who got your number off some master list and is merely adding you to their email blasts every other day
7) Work and talk on the phone exclusively with the "good" recruiters and ignore the others

It feels weird to quote myself, but I posted this on a different locum thread.

I mean seems like a personal problem for them to be honest.
