delaying matriculation

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if we can delay matriculation into dental school? Like let's say I applied for Fall 08 matriculation and get accepted, can I ask to be delayed for the Fall 09 matriculation? I know this exists for med schools, just wondering if it works for dental school too because I did not apply this cycle but I plan to do so next cycle; however, I am thinking of pursuing something that requires a two year commitment. I only ask because I took the DATs this summer and absolutely beasted it but I was afraid of the approx. 3 year time limit on the DAT scores.

Every school is different and it's really, really hard to defer. PM me if you want more info.

Like they have said each school is different in how they handle it. I know at some schools it is really hard to do so without some very valid reason for NEEDING to. I was thinking of doing it last year because I just wasn't ready and wanted time off to think over my options but the school did not let me defer my acceptance for that reason. Hey I did it. These are some northeast schools that allow it: NYU, UMDNJ, BU, MAryland and I dont know about the others. Tufts though accepts you on condition that you finish the graduate program you are in (if you indicate you will do so on your application) so that would work too.
