Was just looking at the prerequisites for Boston University:
http://www.bu.edu/dental/bulletin/DMD/app-dmd.html

They seem to consider a year of credits to be 8 credits. Now in the case of a science class with a lab, that would be 3+1=4 credits. So yes, 8. But as far as the mathematics, english, and social sciences prerequisites go, at my University (and I'm sure all of them...) one course in any of those subjects is generally 3 credits. This would make one year's worth 6. Am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks.

yes, 1 course = 4 credit hours
1 semester=4 courses=16 credit hours
