Did you post a WAMC? Where did you apply and get an II?
I'm not sure getting a new job is going to move the needle. It might be a good courtesy to let schools know though. I'd wait until you are past your probation period on the job (say after 100 days). As for mentioning you took time off to see family, it's not worth an update.
