On Midwestern's website it says:

Students seeking admission to CCOM must submit the following documented evidence:
  1. Completion of the admissions course requirements
    • Grades of C or better (grades of C- are not acceptable)
How strict is this requirement? I have an ugly C- In organic chem II, but good MCAT and decent grades
(512, 3.25sgpa 3.3gpa). I really don't want to retake this class if I don't have to. Does anyone have info on this? Will I be automatically canned if they see this C–?

Retake organic at a community college over the summer.

I would say even with that good MCAT, CCOM would be a reach school. Bring your GPA up with that retake. The 3.25 sGPA is already at the lower threshold of all DO schools, let alone CCOM.

Just retake the class, get help to knock it out of the park, and have an even better GPA. With an even higher GPA and your great MCAT, you're definitely going to see some love.

I would like to know this as well. I will try to call the school and ask.

They specifically mean the main pre-req requirements (Bio, Phys, Chem, etc.). They don't give a crap if you got a D in underwater basket weaving.

Nice, currently looking at a D in one of my classes in my major, just trying to graduate.

Retaking a D can be a big GPA boost, what class was it? Are you already accepted to med school (it says that on your profile)?

This is school specific so sorry to hijack the thread. I was referring to a class within my major which I'm doing the bare minimum to get a D to pass and graduate so I can matriculate.

As for the OP, retake anything C or lower, it will help your GPA tremendously.

Gotcha. That could look bad if you were still planning on applying, but I don't think it should affect you as long as you're fine with the explicit pre-reqs. I would definitely still contact the school to double-check as you wouldn't want something like this to impact matriculation.

What if the orgo 2 i took at uni is 4 hours while the orgo 2 at my cc is only 3. What happens then?

Anyone experience this trying to add grade on application online? Or if a school like CCOM will accept this?

It won't count. They have to be same amount of credits. When this happens both grades are counted.

It would be strategic to apply DO and claim that im retaking that 1 class during the application process without stating where/how many hours right? If, doing this for this one class is in my favor, that is. In terms of time/gpa

This is not something I would do. If you are aware that it is not considered an equivalent class and does not meet the requirements for grade replacement than it is incredibly dishonest to claim that you are retaking to adcoms. You also have to report your in progress and expected classes on your application so to not be truthful on that is definitely lying on your application. Also, if you were to get accepted based on the fact that you are retaking and your final grades did not show equivalent classes, your acceptance could be withdrawn.

I have a 3.1 sGPA and didn't get a secondary from CCOM. Could have been because of that or my C- in one of my orgo labs.

Interesting you say this. Ill definitely give the aacomas a call about this. Thanks for letting me know

also regarding OP's question, if i got a B in my phys lecture but a D in my lab, does this average out to , above a C?
