While maybe the most "logical" decision might be to go where the money is, I could totally understand wanting to stay close to home, especially with your grandparents getting older. I think UCSF would be worth the investment more than Penn, for this reason, p/f all 4 years, and a really good culture. With that, you are not at all confining yourself to the west, you can match anywhere out of UCSF

You're not confining yourself to west coast at UCSF.

I think I wouldn't be able to turn down the scholarship at UChicago personally, but being close to home and family is so important and such a personal decision. P/F is also insanely nice and SF is by far the best location out of your options.

I think you can choose UCSF confidently here. Congratulations on great options.

Thanks for the input!! I am leaning UCSF, but the pangs of guilt around turning down the opportunity to save 200K stay rough...
