Welcome to the forums.

I would be interested in what your prehealth advisors say about your application. One thing that stands out to me is where you have the most hours. I see more consultant than physician. It's strange for me to say that you really don't have a lot of hours in the experiences that inform me you are ready for the basics of medical school, but you seem enthusiastic for all the "lagniappe" (that's the only word I can come up with, everyone can look it up).

Do you have enough non-clinical volunteering? You have a lot of fundraising and teaching/tutoring. A lot of leadership to help underserved communities. What I don't see is your comfort level with sick people. I don't see activities where I can sense humility. I see a lot of opportunities to make big changes, but not many where you have to sit and comfort people when you have no answers.

Maybe you will play that X factor to show you had a hard knock life where you and your family had to work really hard to get to where you are now (going to an Ivy League school and graduating in three years). Maybe you'll get into an entrepreneurial-oriented school like Dell (if you want to live in Texas). Maybe you'll line up a gap year in Peace Corps. The impression just screams gunner but without the deep clinical experience or service orientation activities.

Thanks for the advice!
I’ve done ground work for months in places like India where I helped organize a blood drive and was working with patients specifically. I also spent time as a volunteer in oncology offices where I saw terminal patients. That's actually what led to a couple of my other initiatives like publishing the book for funds. I feel that I was overly focused on achieving my full potential and lapsed in my vision of what's truly at heart. If I spend significant time in a clinical setting over this next year as well as into the gap year, do you think that would ease this gap in my application?

I also honestly am the more entrepreneur type and plan on making my own thing in the future, whatever that may be. I know that's not something schools are sometimes looking for. However, there are some schools that look for more unique pathways. Stanford comes to mind but that might be shooting outside my range.

I think I have enough nonclinical hours and experiences to talk about. I've been involved with a wide range of them within the city and have had direct conversations with the people I intend to help too. It might not show through this post but I think I have a decent confident narrative in this facet.
