Which one is the better deal? The X30 is the older model but has a faster processor and is lighter and smaller. The X50 is newer, has dual memory slots, but heavier and bulkier. Anyone have either of these or have played with both to make a comparison? I'm trying to spend under $300 for a pocket pc.

Under $400 you mean?

I've got the most expensive, the X50v. When you factor the time-value into your purchase, (how long until it's obsolete?) the extra $30-$40 is worth it. Besides, Hewlett Packard's equivalent is $200 more.

www.aximsite.com is the place to go if you want a LOT more info on any of these products.

p.s. My Axim is my favorite toy ever. You'd probably become obsessed with it and use if far more than you expect, just like I do.

Thanks for the advice NotShorty.

I have owned the first Axim (X5) and liked it...was very affordable at just above $200, but I stopped using it because of its bulkiness and weight...it just became too uncomfortable for me to carry in my white coat pocket.

Have you owned a X5 before purchasing the 50V? I think the 50v is really awesome, but am worried about the bulk and weight...what is your opinion? How long have you used it? Do you use it during your rotations?

Bulk and weight? Compared to what, a cellphone? I have an x50 mid (pictured below) and I love it. Didn't see a use for the VGA screen so I saved some money. Processor speed difference is not noticeable.

hmm, nope this is my first pocket pc. I just pop it into the chest pocket of my scrub top. With the RhinoSkin aluminum case it's a perfect fit and the weight doesn't bother me a bit. Although in side pocket of white coat it's definitely noticeable. My advice is always keep it close to the heart. 👍

I should point out that I'm a first year. I don't know how practical the expense of the VGA screen would be for you, except for EXTREME cool factor. 🙂 Now that I think about it though, if you catch Dell during one of their sales, the price diff is so totally worth going for the X50v. The picture is sooo much better.

By monkeying around a bit, you can convert a DVD and watch an entire movie on it (if you purchase an additional memory card for about $50) and play 3D games (the v has a cutting edge 3D graphics processor). I think video games are a total waste of money, but even I've been playing the free ones that the v comes with, and am half-considering buying more...

It's kinda like my cell phone. I was so resistant to buy one, but once I had it, I used it a LOT!
