GPA- 3.76
sGPA- 3.71
MCAT- applied the last cycle with a 507, just got my score back from taking it last month and got a 517.
Research experience: Two years of experience during my undergrad. I have one first author publication and two second authors. Presented at several conferences and won first place in a poster presentation in the health sciences category.
ECs in undergrad- Lab TA for two years, Worked in biology office, tutor for three semesters, mentor to high school students, dance, science club, fraternity with leadership positions, theater, service club
Service- nonclinical: volunteer with organization helping families with children who have special needs, various service projects with the service club I was in, math and science tournament volunteer for high schoolers - overall about 250 hours of nonclinical volunteer work
clinical: 60 hours of volunteer work at a hospital with direct patient care, 50 hours free clinic
Shadowing - 60 hours of various specialities
AL resident, White male
I was waitlisted, and rejected shortly after graduation. I think my problem was my mediocre MCAT score, and my GPA at the time of submitting was about 3.66c/ 3.55s. I had a 4.0 senior year. Also, I didn't have enough shadowing at the time of submission. I got two interviews and was extremely nervous for both, and wasn't myself, but shy and awkward. I knew once I left the interviews, I probably didn't impress them. Since graduation, I have been working as a lab tech, and have gained much more experience. I am also currently volunteering at a school for the blind and deaf.
How are my chances looking for this upcoming cycle? And what should I do between now and June 1, to boost my application?
