Dental Admissions statement

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll get you started.

There I was, back at immigration again wondering to myself where Tijuana dentists learn their craft. They produce some whack bling. It was then that I decided to learn dentistry and bring some old-world skills to the upper 48.

The rest is up to you.

"It was another boring Friday night. Me and Bobby had run out of ammo so we were dropping eggs off the overpass at fleeing cars, trying to decide what to do next.
"Whip-its!" I suggest.
"Hell no," says Bobby, "it costs $25 for a box of 20 and a cracker. That ain't economical. What we need is a whole tank of NO2."

Then it hit me..."

I want to be filthy rich and milk people for all theyre worth so I figured dentistry would be a good way to do that.

While all these posts where creative and amusing, I doubt these were the answers you were looking for...

I think the best thing you can do is bring your personality out on paper. They already know the details of your experience and all your qualifications... but what they dont know is who you really are as a person.

Think about what makes you stand out from all the other applicants. If you cant think of anything, then get some help from your close friends and family. Maybe share a funny story or something that is close to your heart.

Just try to avoid talking about your stats and experience because they will probably skim through your essay and not learn ANYTHING about you. Get a good attention grabber and just speak from the heart.

Finally, I think you might want to try going to the library and checking out some books on sample college entrance essays. I checked one out and it really inspired me to use some of my own uniqueness and I am pretty happy with my final result. Sorry that I don't remember the name of the book, but you can do a search at your library. Good luck! 👍

That is an awesome topic! If i ever have to write another dental personal statement... I am SOOO using this one, haha.

When I was taking the tour of the school during my interview... one of the 3rd year students was telling the group how much he liked the oral surgery lab. He went on to explain that they get to administer nitrous to each other... So they know what it feels like to be a patient of course 😉. He said that when you give it to a patient, you only give it to them until their anxiety stops. But in the lab they gave it to each other until euphoria. He then proceeded to show us how he curled up into a ball in the chair and was laughing and drooling for like 5 minutes. Everyone was cracking up

hahahha hopefully i get the same tour guide in a couple of weeks at my UF interview.

PM me once it is DONE and I will edit it and offer suggestions. Get as many people to read it as you can!! It'll get much better that way.

Good luck.
