Not exactly sure how I ended up here w/ this question but:
After a recent visit to the dentists for a broken silver filling, they replaced it with a white filling (my first one). A few hours later my skin got crazy itchy and remained that way for over a week before I decided to look into why.
I suspect I may have an allergy to one of the compounds used in the white filling since I am aware of almost no other allergies I have and the condition does not seem to be improving any.
I got a MSDS from the dentist and made a DR's appointment expecting a referral to see an allergy specialist to test to see if I am allergic, but the P.A. there kind of discarded the idea that I could have an allergy to a filling. He said I have atopic dermatitis (condition of immune system triggered by allergen that makes my skin itchy) and it is probably just caused by seasonal allergies (which I don't have) this time of year.
I am aware of only 1 other allergy I have (a medication) and I am going through replacing most of the things I come in contact with (soap, shampoo, laundry detergent etc.) and the condition does not seem to be subsiding at all.
I am at a loss as to what the allergen could be but nobody but me seems to believe that a filling allergy could be the culprit.
Am I crazy?
