Does anyone know what on earth happens to all the old dental school applications (ie. shredded)? They can't just keep piling up year after year. Or are they kept and taken into account when applying for a post-doctoral program?

Weird story: I called Case Western about my app to check on the status (this cycle). I accidentally called the undergrad office.... they had my file and asked why I was calling about and app I submitted in 2004/5! There is a chance they keep them, file them, computerize them... I am not 100% sure... but if an UNDERGRAD does it.... why not a professional school?
