i was told by a friend about foreign dentist practising as dental hygienist in florida, could somebody put some light to it... well what is the procedure for registration, do we have to give exams ??etc etc...
you are eligible to take the clinical hygiene exam if you've taken the dental hygiene board exam or passed NDBE1 and 2. The cost for applying and exam is 700.00 Thenext exam is in July and deadline for submission is this Feb. The hygiene assoc. there is opposing this opportunity now open for foreign dental grads but for now we are allowed to apply.
Go to the state of Florida Dept. of Health website so you can look at all the info.
does that mean if you get the license as a hygienest you will be able to have H1 visa?is that possible? does that affect your future status when you want to get your dds license?
hi
before i want take the dds license but the california borad closed the beach exam for forgien dentist, and i can't take the loan, so for me the only one chance is be hygienist.tha tis why i asked some informations for hygienist job and salary.
i think the exam would be scaling and root planning , but if we apply do u think we practice this root planning efficiently?
i mean does anyone know of a way we can practice before we go for the exam?
it doesn't specify that residency is a requirement to take the exam. but i believe it would be beneficial to get pointers from a hygienest or a periodontist on how to effectively scale and root plane prior to the exam. 700 plus incidental cost is a big amt. to waste just bec. there was no ample preparation.
i guess we would need an employer willing to sponsor us for a work visa should they decide to invest in us which may translate to them getting an upper hand with salary negotiations bec. of that extra effort on their part to sponsor bec. why will they bother if they can always hire a local who doesn't need sponsorship and legal paperwork?
that's why i am waiting for my canadian citizenship next year ( i am eligible to apply this year bec. i would have fulfilled the 3 yr residency requirement by then) so all i'll need is a job offer to get a TN visa enjoyed by Canadian citizens without needing to be sponsored...
although i am not yet settled on whether i really want to go that route or wait for the results of the ab 1467 first...
Is the florida only state which allows international dentist to appear directly for clinical exam?
Do the other states have this kind of provision for us?
light on this subject is really appreciable.
